STEP 1:Technical Briefing
The Architects GT of COACAN have selected some existing interest point of the city of Santander in which the 3D changes will be developed using specific technique named “structural fields”. On the other hand the structural fields over which there have been developed numerous strategies or “futuristic ideas” that transform the current city into a city from the future 2100 are: energy, water, waste management, mobility, connectivity, clothing as well as culture and habitat.
The Official Architects School of Cantabria (COACAN) is the agency responsible of the technical briefing for the VRpolis project, selecting those more experienced in eco-efficiency areas, degrees in sustainable construction, material innovation and outstanding creativity.
Work group/architects: Marta García Arce, Juan Sáez Martínez, Héctor Navarro, Ana López de Arróyabe and César Córdoba San Emeterio.
Hector Navarro (1986) architect by Polytechnic University of Madrid. Currently he is writing his doctoral thesis “Symbiosis and boundaries between architecture and contemporary urban space”. He is a member of the research group “Architecture, Design, Fashion and Society”and professor at the CSDMM (UPM). He has worked for 7 years with Manuel Blanco curating and designing exhibitions and installations as associate architect like Grandes Encuadernaciones (Royal Palace), A City called Spain or Campo Baeza, the creation tree (MAXXI Rome, Gallery TOTO Tokyo). He currently works as an architect between Cantabria and Madrid developing his own work and also collaborating with Arkhitekton studio (Plaza Tetuan, Santander)
JUAN SAEZ MARTINEZ DE LA PEDRAJA graduated as an Architect in 2012 from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid He has worked in Germany, Austria, Spain and most recently in the U.S. He has participated in the construction project of the Chicago’s new French Lycée, the development of a Master Plan for the City Colleges of Chicago, and has worked on several residential projects in Los Angeles. Besides his work as an architect, he has recently collaborated as an Artist with Sol Lewitt’s Estate. Last October his conceptual project “Liquid Bank” was awarded in the “Dry Futures” competition organized by Archinect. He currently develops his professional activity between Spain and the U.S
César Córdoba (Laredo, 1984) graduated as an architect from ETSAVa [Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Valladolid] after being studying for one year in Artesis Hogeschool of Antwerp. He has worked for several international architectural practices such as What_architecture (London, United Kingdom), Toni Gironès (Barcelona, Spain) or Forgas arquitectes (Barcelona, Spain) as an architect and urban planner. After studying a Master´s degree in Restoration and Rehabilitation of Old Buildings in the Architecture School of Barcelona [ETSAB], now he is based in Santander (Spain) developing his own work and collaborating with A1arquitectos
MAR MARTINEZ DIEZ Graduated as an architect from ETSAVA in 1990 [Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Valladolid]. She has combined her proffesional Studies with some Works for the administration body. She has been worked as architect for the Laredo’s vocational training centre and some city halls like Ribamontán al Monte and Arenas de Iguña . She also was collaborating with the Amuero council at the Trasmiera Ecopark among others. She has been teaching and coordinating many talks and seminaries about architecture aproach. Currently she is working at the Official School of Cantabrian Architects like a executive secretary.
Ana López de Arróyabe (Santander, 1989). She’sthe youngest of the team. Architect from the Universidad de Valladolid (2015). She participated at Regional Technical Drawing and Physics Olympics where she got the 3th and the 4th position respectively. She made an ERASMUS foreign- exchange at the Università Degli Studi di Firenze. She took part in KUMEN assotiation working as a volunteer to teach children while she was studying at university. Currently, she is dedicated to participate in architecture competition and to continue doing additional education.
MARTA GARCÍA ARCE (Santander, 1981) Master’s Degree in Architecture, School of Architecture of Valladolid, Spain (2007) She studied at the Politecnico di Milano for a year (2002-2003). Before and after graduating she collaborated with different studios from Valladolid and Santander where she worked on a large range of projects of different scales and requirements. She started her career in FDA Arquitectos (Santander) in 2008. The work of FDA has been awarded, distinguished, published and exhibited in several occasions.
Domingo de la Lastra Valdor (Santander, 1964)(Cultural spokesperson of the COACAN:) graduated as an architect; he has worked as an architect and urban planner for private and public promoters, as well as he worked for ten years as the representative of the Official Architects School of Cantabria (COACAN) in the Architectural Heritage Committee of the Department of Culture (Government of Cantabria). Because he has always been interested in arts and ideas, currently he is working as the cultural programme coordinator and as the spokesperson of the COACAN, and his work is engaged with a multidisciplinary approach. He also enjoys painting, especially landscapes and portraits.
